Breath-taking Taorska Springs

In the beautiful region of Valjevo, in the western part of Serbia, at the foot of Mountain Povlen, the magical Taorska Springs are situated.
The magnificent Taorska Spring are cascading waterfalls that spring in the little village of Donji Taor. The origin of the word “Taor” is very mysterious, it is believed that the word “Taor” originates from the Celts language, and it represents mountain peak, the village underneath it, and the whole area.
Other beliefs are indicating that the location of Taor was the path of spreading Christianity from the coastal area and that the peak was named after the Mount Tabor in the Holy Land, where the enlightenment of Lord took place. Name of the Mountain Povlen is associated with the Latin word Paullinium, with means the mountain of Saint Paul.
In the area of Taorska Spring in the past used two be 12 watermills that were used for the needs of the Kosjeric waterworks. Nowadays, only to mills are left which are giving this fairy tale look of the whole area combined with water springs and greens. Near to the springs, there is a cave from which water is coming, however, the cave can not be reached by visitors. The locals of the springs call the waterfalls Rikovci as they used to have supernatural power.
The location of these natural springs is not easy to reach, as there is a macadam road that can not be avoided. But these little obstacles are not something that should stop you from visiting. Pack the bags, get with your crew, and take a road trip via Valjevo to Taorska Springs.
