Kapetan Mišin breg
Only a few kilometers above Donji Milanovac, in Eastern Serbia, there is a special village called Kapetan Mišin Breg. It is an ecological ethno complex placed in the very heart of the Djerdap Gorge. Situated on a 173m tall knoll above the Danube, it offers a magnificent view over the Gorge.
How to reach Kapetan Mišin breg?
The compound is around 185km from Belgrade. The whole trip by car is about 3h long. There are a lot of interesting places to visit nearby. Our recommendation is to pay a visit to Golubac fortress and to see Lepenski Vir. All within 20km.
If you are traveling from Belgrade, you should take the E-75 highway. The exit from that you should take is Požarevac. After exiting the highway follow the signs for Srebrno jezero and Golubac. The road is quite good all the way, except for the few “bumpy” parts though. After you pass the Golubac Fortress, the road continues to Donji Milanovac. On the same route, you’ll pass the archeological site Lepenski Vir. Afterward, there’s a turn for Kapetan Mišin breg (after about ten km from Lepenski Vir). There’s a tourist sign for Kapetan Misin breg, so you won’t miss it. The road that leads to the complex ascends from the main road, and you will need only a few minutes to reach it.

If you are traveling from the Niš direction (distance of 180 km), you can go through Zajecar. If you are traveling from the direction of Kragujevac, the distance is about 195 km. You can use the exit for Pozarevac and further follow the above-described route.
What is Kapetan Mišin breg?
Kapetan Mišin breg is a compound that honors the life and works of the captain Mihailo Miša Anastastasijević. He is born in the 19Сербский поэт конца 18 века century not so far from the compound. Captain Miša was one of the wealthiest men of his time, and most importantly a great philanthropist. He was also known as the first elected president of the National Assembly.
What to expect at Kapetan Mišin breg?
For starters, you will enjoy the magnificent view from the complex. You will have a feeling that you are holding the whole Djerdap gorge in your palm. There’s an open-air gallery called “Man, wood, water”. The gallery occupies approximately 700 square meters with its unique, enchanting collection of wooden and stone art and figures. The collection is the work of the hands of Mr. Živorad Stefanović.
Since 2013, within the compound, there’s been a museum of wine. You can find a great collection of the top domestic and international wines.
