Rimsky Korsakov

In the latest episode of "Serbian-Russian Medallions", we are bringing you a very interesting story about the famous Russian composer Rimsky Korsakov. Rimsky Korsakov (1844-1908) was considered one of the five composers known as the "Big Five".

Rimsky Korsakov devoted most of his compositional work to composing opera. There are 15 operas left from Korsakov, among which the Kashchey the immortal and The Tale of Tsar Saltan stand out. His compositions are characterized by an intertwining of the real and the fantastic. In his work, he refers to folk melodies, realistic recitals, lyrical sounds, and artificially constructed harmonies with impressive orchestral expressions. Most of Rimsky Korsakov's operas are still in the standard repertoire in Russia.
