Support young pianist to make his dream come true
Foundation 1% is non-profit organization that is supporting young talent from Serbia to maintain their education in the best universities in the world.
Andrej Markovic, 18 years old teenager, is one of the most talented and perspective young pianist in Serbia.
He has been given a chance to maintain his education on one of the best music faculties of the world, San Francisco Conservatory of Music. However, in order to pursue his dream, he needs support from all of us.
This year, Andrej graduated from the music high school "Kosta Manojlovic" in Zemun, and so far he has won over 40 first prizes, victories and laureates in various competitions. As Andrej says, music and piano represent his passion and life mission and that is why he works and studies so dedicatedly. The next step was the choice of studies.
Andrej was not afraid to dream big, so he applied for one of the best music faculties in the world (San Francisco Conservatory of Music) where he took the entrance exam in piano.
Competition for the best music faculty was high, over 200 talented pianists from all over the world got the opportunity to apply for this faculty, and Andrej managed to be among only 2 people from all over the world who were admitted to basic piano studies in the class of a famous pianist and professor, Corey McVicar!
At the same time, Andrej managed to get a faculty scholarship in the amount of 48,000 dollars, which covers the costs of tuition, with his results at the entrance exam.
However, what this scholarship does not cover are the costs of accommodation and meals on the faculty campus whose total amount is $ 19,400 per year ($ 5,000 in food costs, $ 14,400 in accommodation costs).
Andrej lives with a single mother who has a minimum income, and his father passed away on January 31 this year, just a few days after the entrance exam. Given the family and financial situation, Andrej is not able to cover these costs and he needs the help of all of us!
As Andrej says, he got a life chance for success in his piano career and the only opportunity and hope is the support we can give him. He plans to work in parallel in the first year of study in order to provide himself with funds for the costs of further studies, but nevertheless, he needs help for the first year of studies, which started in September.
Andrej is at a turning point in his life and he has a life opportunity ahead of him. He did everything he could, nurtured his talent, believed in himself, invested a lot of effort and work to be one of the best in the world, passed the entrance exam at one of the best music colleges in the world, where he also received a scholarship.
On the way to his dreams, only a financial obstacle remains, and he completely deserves us all to help him together in that!
