Enchanting turquoise blue lake Tavnica
If you are a nature lover and you like to be surrounded by the untouched, wild beauty, there is the enchanting turquoise blue lake. Lake Tavnica is situated near the town of Nova Varos and it is considered one of the most interesting lakes in Serbia.
Lake has an interesting background; thirty years ago, the miners in Draglica were looking for magnesite ore, not knowing that after many years at the bottom of their pit, the beautiful oasis of Tavnica Lake will be created.
What makes this breathtaking oasis unique is its crystal clear turquoise blue water. The Lake Tavnica is like a swimming pool created by nature. During the summer months, it is ideal for swimming and represents the place where tourists and locals enjoy hot summer days.
Visitors of the Tavnica Lake can enjoy untouched nature which makes this lake a perfect cure for the soul and body. This blue oasis is only 70 meters long and 40 meters wide, the water is filled from two strong springs, that secure that the lake never stays without water. The greatest depth, measured in the middle of the lake, is 8 meters. Due to the natural environment, there is no wind or waves here, so the water is warmer during the summer than on the lakes in the Uvac canyon, which makes it a perfect natural swimming pool.
As locals wanted to have fishing experience, they have tried to stock the lake with the fish from the other side of the country, specifically from Banat. As the number and range of fishes in the lake are not that immense, it is not considered as a fishing zone.
If you decide to visit this natural oasis, all you have to do is to turn onto the macadam road, on the road from Tavnik to Zlatibor. As the slopes are almost vertical, the lake can be reached only from a few places, but it is worth it.
